• Interdistrict Attendance

    THIS INFORMATION IS FOR INTERDISTRICT TRANSFERS FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR:

    Outgoing Interdistrict Transfers: Due by January 15, 2024

    If a resident of the Jefferson School District wishes for their child to attend a school outside of Jefferson District boundaries, the parent/guardian must submit an interdistrict transfer form to the Superintendent’s Office located at 1219 Whispering Wind Dr. during the transfer period from (October 15, 2023-January 15, 2024). If JSD approves your child(ren)’s transfer(s) out of the district, we will send a copy to the requested district. Final approval is made by the requested district.

    Please Note: Students in grades TK-8 need to re-apply each year for the following school year.

    Incoming Interdistrict Transfers: Due by June 15, 2024 

    If a student wishes to attend a Jefferson District school and the parent/guardian does not live in Jefferson District boundaries, the parent/guardian must obtain an interdistrict transfer from their current school district of residence during the transfer period from (October 15, 2023- June 15, 2024). *Please note that Tracy Unified School District requires this to be completed by January 15, 2024. The interdistrict transfer is required for anyone living outside of Jefferson District who wishes to attend a Jefferson school. Interdistrict transfers are granted on a space-available basis and JSD reserves the right to determine whether or not to accept interdistrict transfer requests. JSD also reserves the right to limit the number of incoming students as well as establish priorities according to types of requests. It is the parent/guardian’s responsibility to provide attendance, grades, discipline records, and proof of residency for the student when submitting the transfer request.

    Appeal Rights:

    Disapproval by either district may be appealed by the San Joaquin County Office of Education within 30 days of denial.  See www.sjcoe.org for the Interdistrict Attendance Appeal Handbook, or call the San Joaquin County Office of Education at (209) 468-4800.

    Intra-District Transfers: Due by March 15, 2024          

    LATE TRANSFER REQUESTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED

    If a resident of the Jefferson School District wishes for their child to attend another Jefferson District school other than their zoned school, the parent/guardian must submit an intra-district transfer form to the Superintendent’s Office located at 1219 Whispering Wind Dr. during the open enrollment period (October 15, 2023-March 15, 2024). Intradistrict transfers are granted on a space-available basis and JSD reserves the right to determine whether or not to accept Intradistrict transfer requests.

    Please Note: Processing may be delayed if forms are filled out incorrectly or print is not legible. A parent/guardian’s failure to meet any timelines established above is deemed an abandonment of the request for transfer.

    Timeline for Processing Requests:

    Jefferson School District will (a) notify a parent submitting a current year request of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received and (b) JSD will notify a parent submitting a future year request of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the beginning of instruction in the school year for which interdistrict transfer is sought.

    A “current year request” is an interdistrict transfer request received starting 15 days before school begins for the school year. (Education Code § 46600.1(c).)

    A “future year request” is a request received up until 15 days before school begins for the school year. (Education Code § 46600.1(e).)

    Conditions for Revocation of an Existing Interdistrict Agreement:

    Each trimester, Jefferson School District will review a student’s attendance, citizenship, and academic progress to determine whether or not to revoke the Interdistrict Agreement based upon the Interdistrict Agreement Contract. The contract contains the following conditions:

    1. Student must maintain a satisfactory record of daily attendance. Student must be in attendance 95% or more of the enrolled school days.
    2. Student must maintain a satisfactory record of citizenship. Student may not be suspended, expelled, or receive more than 3 office referrals in any trimester.
    3. Student must maintain a satisfactory record of academic progress. Students in 4-8th grades need to maintain a 2.0 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 grade scale in all subjects (Including electives) or making progress on their Individualized Education Plan goals, Individual Language Plan (English Learner Program), or a general education 504 plan goals.
