In 2010, residents of the Jefferson Elementary School District passed the Measure J school bond. This bond was for $34.4 million and was restricted to construction projects at Jefferson, Monticello, Tom Hawkins, and Anthony Traina schools. The bulk of the funds were spent in 2015 and 2016 on the Jefferson School modernization project and the Anthony Traina gymnasium. JESD currently has approximately $2.4 million in bond funds to allocate to the original four schools. One of the requirements to spend these funds is to have a Citizen’s Oversight Committee to monitor all projects and provide oversight. This committee meets a few times per year and ultimately approves the financial audits for the bond projects. On November 2nd, 2010, Jefferson voters passed Measure J, a $35.4 million bond measure. Measure J was passed by our community with over two-thirds of the vote. This margin is far above the required 55% passage rate and one of the higher approval rates in the state. This website will be regularly updated with progress related to Measure J planning and construction.
