Accelerated Math Pathway
The Jefferson School District Math Pathway is available to 7th and 8th grade students. We currently offer an accelerated math class to 7th graders that prepares them to take Algebra I, in 8th grade. The course is taught at Jefferson School to all students who qualify in the district.
To qualify for this course, 6th grade students must meet the criteria established:
All 6th grade students will take a district benchmark math assessment in class in May. If your student meets the criteria listed above a letter will be sent to notify you.
- 6th grade math teacher recommendation
- Math grade of A, on all trimester report cards
- Score in the top 10% on the end of year 6th grade district benchmark assessment
The goal of the qualification process is to ensure that students are placed in the most appropriate math course for their learning needs. The Accelerated 7th Grade Course is designed to be extremely rigorous and fast paced. It will require a major commitment on the part of the student and their family.
