Norovirus is a highly contagious virus that can cause vomiting and diarrhea. It can spread quickly in schools, households, and group settings.

If your child has symptoms that may affect attendance or participation at school, please contact your child’s school. For school health support questions, contact the Health Office.

What Families Should Do

  • Keep your child home if they are vomiting, have diarrhea, or are too sick to participate in school activities.
  • Follow guidance from your healthcare provider about care and return to school.
  • Encourage frequent handwashing with soap and water, especially after using the restroom and before eating.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched surfaces when someone in the home is sick.
  • Notify the school of your child’s illness so staff can support attendance and health guidance as needed.
